Looking back – Leaping forwards!

2017 saw huge achievements from our pupils. Here we look back on last year with pride and share plans for our leap forward into 2018.

SOTA pupils in major movies

During 2017 so many of our pupils worked professionally, gaining massive industry experience and huge insights into how this incredible industry actually works in the real world. We had SOTA pupils filming on every major movie being shot in the UK in 2017: Mary Poppins, Star Wars, Dumbo, Curious Beasts 2, & Justice League – quite an achievement.

Backstage at Sadler’s Wells

SOTA Reading & Bracknell pupils aged 3-18yrs, put on a tour de force show “SOTA POPS TO BROADWAY” at Wilde Theatre, Bracknell in June, and SOTA Windsor pupils did the same at The Old Court in July and then again at the Theatre Royal in “Making Memories” in November, with a smashing performance at the switching on of the Christmas Lights outside Windsor Castle this Christmas.

SOTA Reading & Bracknell pupils also performed two fabulous dance numbers at the world famous Sadler’s Wells – giving them the incredible experience of dancing on a legendary dance stage.

What about 2018?

Now into our 13th year, our pupils are currently preparing for all sorts of projects and performances in 2018.

This year, pupils will take ISTD Dance Exams in Modern, Tap & Ballet and LAMDA Acting Exams. They’ll dance again at Sadler’s Wells, put on a Drama Festival of performances where they will put on three different acting pieces and then appear in a Cabaret project, for which each pupil is coached in a solo singing performance they perform to an invited audience.

There will be more terrific shows at the Old Court – and rehearsals start in September for our 2019 Wilde Theatre Show – title to be announced shortly.

With so many exciting projects to be part of, our unique mix of internationally recognised qualifications and creative performance opportunities – SOTA certainly remains the place to attend acting, singing and dance classes in Reading, Windsor & Bracknell. It’s a place we can all be proud to be part of in Berkshire. New Year? Bring it on!
