UNIFORM

All pupils are required to arrive looking well groomed and wearing SOTA uniform. We often have visiting professionals / agents and casting directors and it is important that pupils are weel presented.

The cost of the basic SOTA Uniform is £60 which includes SOTA T-shirt, Black Jazz Pants and Black Jazz shoes.  SOTA Hoodies & Fleeces are also available. Uniform is ordered and delivered to and fitted at pupils classes.

Why Uniform Is Important
Childrens young bodies are vulnerable to injury and we take the health and safety of our students very seriously.

The jazz shoes are made out of soft, supportive leather with a split sole and a suede and rubber sole. They are important because they allow flexibilty of the foot, enabling your child to learn how to use his feet correctly. This helps him to jump correctly and to land safetly, otherwise knee and back injuries are possible. The soles have enough give so that your child can move and dance freely whilst they also provide enough grip to prevent slipping. £22 well spent when you compare an inadequate shoe and the impact this could have.

The Jazz Pants £22 are a cotton lycra stretch yet fitted pant which gives your child the flexibility needed to learn to stretch and limber correctly. The fact that they are fitted to the knee allows the staff to observe that the students are bending and stretching their knees correctly which is essential for preventing injuries and teaching correct dance technique.

SOTA T shirts £16 complete the uniform and ensure our pupils can move easily and safetly whilst being easily identifiable by staff and the public. This last point is essential for child safety given that two of our schools are run in venues also open to members of the public.

We do offer a service called SOTA Seconds which enables parents to purchase good quality second hand uniform at 50 percent of the brand new price. This is uniform which has been donated by SOTA Parents and pupils. Any revenue raised goes towards the cost of costumes for our productions, further reducing the cost to parents. This is our way of recycling, being environmentally friendlier and helping to lessen the burden of financing uniform for a fast growing child. However we are reliant on donations and cannot guarantee we will have sizes that you require. Please let us know if this is something you would like to benefit from.
Tap, Modern and Ballet dance classes require specific dance uniform (details on request).
